Schneider Electric has enhanced its BIM offering, making it available through the NBS National BIM Library for the first time.

The National BIM Library is the fastest growing collection of both generic and manufactured objects in the UK. Used by consulting engineers in the creation of specifications and designs, the extensive library enables BIM objects to be used throughout a project. With the addition of Schneider Electric’s medium and low voltage offers, consultant engineers can now quickly locate and download these objects, integrating them into building designs more easily than ever before by using the free NBS plug in for Revit.
From April this year, the Government has stipulated that every public construction project needs to be designed and built using BIM, specifically requiring Level 2 BIM within all parts of the design and build process. The National BIM Library provides a way to meet these requirements, while also increasing efficiency and reducing errors during construction projects.
Consulting engineers can now access Schneider Electric medium and low voltage offers. As such they can expect:

  • Increased productivity. The ability to seamlessly access Schneider Electric product model information, while dynamically creating the product model, including one-click access to specifications, drawings, catalogues and more.
  • Improved efficiency. Schneider Electric products can be easily selected and placed into designs, while products can be configured to meet project requirements by answering a few quick questions.
  • Easy access. Product lineups can be created in seconds – and future models can be made even more quickly with the ability to save frequently used products as favourites.

Schneider Electric has also partnered with RIBA Product Selector, an online directory of construction product manufacturers and advisory organisations. This partnership ensures that construction industry professionals now have visibility of Schneider Electric products and offers when specifying and can view all offers in NBS Plus and the NBS BIM Library in one place!
Louise Smith at Schneider Electric commented: “The journey to sustainable, high performance buildings starts with taking a comprehensive and holistic view of a building lifecycle. From design, construction, and operation, specifiers must ensure that they are equipped to adapt to the constantly evolving needs of businesses and organisations. At Schneider Electric, we are committed to supporting engineers on and off the job by providing direct access to our offerings via our Consulting Engineers area of our website and through tools such as the NBS BIM library, NBS Plus and RIBA Product Selector.”
