Stacey has been an integral part of the customer support team since 2001. Starting as a customer service advisor, she has worked her way up, taking on the management of many vital customer support areas within the company. Overseeing Sales & Technical Support, Internal Sales, Marketing and operation of the customer orientated focus of the business, there are not many areas where Stacey does not have an input.

How did you become involved in the Smart Buildings industry?
I’ve worked in the Building Controls industry for over 14 years and have seen the growth in the need to make buildings smart. What was initially control for occupancy comfort has become far more important for energy management and conservation in recent years. People expect more from their built environment now and the possibilities for control are endless.
What excites you about the Smart Buildings industry?
The potential in IoT and cloud data could bring building control to a whole new level with accessibility to more people than ever before.
Are there any particular technologies that we should be aware of, but are currently under the radar?
Smart communication protocols are becoming more prevalent in control systems for the benefits they can offer but are still less utilised than traditional methods.
What services does your company offer?
Sontay offers the latest field control devices to provide vital measurement data back to the control system to enable the environment to be controlled.
Are people aware of the regulations that they will need to comply with in the near future?
I would hope that the majority are!
What are the benefits of a smart building?
Optimum occupant comfort and lower energy costs. If you look at this from a working office environment there are benefits in productivity if the environmental conditions are managed and the energy costs will be far reduced.
Who has been the biggest influence in your career?
There have been many! Ranging from my Grandmother with her intense work ethic to the lady I worked with in my first job who showed me the ways of working life. I try to take something from everyone that I work with – even if it is how not to do something!

What are the best/worst things about your job?
I very much enjoy the variation and amount of different aspects I am able to get involved with. From product development to sales, marketing and operations – I find the connections between them all that keep the business functioning and growing and my involvement in them to be the most fulfilling part of my job.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry?
Take in everything you can and do your best to learn and immerse yourself in the products and technology. The vast amount of technology can be daunting to begin with but do not be fearful and just get involved.
What living person do you admire and why?
Again, my Grandmother who is 87 and is the strongest yet most humble person I know. She has the strength and tenacity to overcome anything.
Where would you most like to live?
I quite like where I live now but would also enjoy the opportunity to live and experience other cultures and climates – warmer ones of course!
What is your favourite book?
Many books have had an influence on me throughout my life. Matilda and other Roald Dahl books as a child through to the Bridget Jones books as an adult. I like a book that can transport me or make me laugh. I also read some sensible books sometimes!
How do you relax?
Spending time with family and friends and making life experiences. I also enjoy walking my crazy Labrador.
What sports team do you support?
My husband would say Liverpool FC!
What is your desert island disk?
I go through phases of listening to an album until I am sick of it and then revisit it a while later. It would definitely need to be a compilation to add variation.
What is your ideal holiday?
Chilling on a beach with a never ending supply of Pina Colada’s and a Kindle full of good books.
